Plasma analysis

Plasma analysis

Photonis detectors may be used in different aspects of plasma analysis. Since plasma is composed mainly from ions and electrons, the corresponding probing of plasma with electromagnetic fields may pick up some of the ions and direct them to an MCP-based detector or ChanneltronTM  Single Channel Electron Multiplier (SCEM), thus making the probing of plasma composition possible.

As an emerging application, our Neutronic imager may be used for imaging of fusion plasma that is rich with generated neutrons. While this plasma is too hot for detecting the ions, the neutrons escaping from the fusion area may be imaged in the areas with a safe temperature and thus the important information about the fusion chamber plasma may be potentially obtained.
