Electroluminescence analysis rises quality of thin-film solar cells

Thin-film solar cells have essential advantages compared to traditional cells based on silicon wafers.

Abstract

Thin-film solar cells have essential advantages compared to traditional cells based on silicon wafers. Yet, not much is known about the behaviour of thin-film solar cells under various lighting and weather conditions. Using InGaAs cameras, it is possible to detect the weak electroluminescent radiation emitted by thin-film solar cells, therefore understanding its quality. Such studies allow for further improvements in thin-film technology, resulting in better power supply solutions based on available solar energy.
