Nuclear Instrumentation involves the design, development, and use of specialized instruments to detect, measure, and analyze radiation in nuclear and radiation-related applications. These instruments play a critical role in areas such as nuclear power plants, radiation therapy, nuclear research, and environmental monitoring. Nuclear Instrumentation is essential to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance in various nuclear-related activities.
In France, we partner with Électricité de France (EDF), Framatome, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), TechnicAtome and ORANO (fuel reprocessing plants and waste storage). Abroad, we have also gained experience in pressurized water (PWR), boiling water (BWR), heavy water (HWR) reactors and other reactor designs.

Exosens has worked on innovative technologies, including fast reactors such as Phenix, Superphenix, the Astrid project. Exosens continues to work not only on the Jules Horowitz Reactor (JHR) – a Materials Testing Reactor – and many other research reactors, but also on Fusion market with ITER and IFMIF-DONES. Exosens is also supporting the specific needs of Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and Advanced Reactors to ensure their success for a sustainable energy future.
Safety is our overriding priority
We contribute to the safety system in Instrumentation and Control system (I&C) with detectors for reactor instrumentation (ex-core, in-core) based on fission chambers, boron lined proportional counters and gamma ionization chambers technologies, and transmission lines in extreme environments. We offer unique detector technologies compatible with different reactor types and environments, such as high level of radiation, high temperature, high external pressure and LOCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) and post LOCA protection.
